What
Is Love
Today, let’s talk about “love”. A few years
ago someone asked me this question. But I didn’t know how
to answer it because I know little about it. Later, as time
passed by, I have understood it deeply.
Now I have a daughter, she is one year and six months old.
She is very lovely and clever. At the same time, she is a
naughty girl. We all love her very much. But because of my
carelessness, I had to say sorry very often to her. One day
when she was four months, I wanted to have a bath, so I laid
her on my big bed. I washed myself happily and forgot about
her. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise-“kin plunk”.

Then
I realized I was a mother, but my little daughter had fallen
onto the floor. When I rushed into the room, she was lying there
and crying. I picked her up and held her in my arms with tears
in my eyes. I said: “ I’m sorry; baby, I’m sorry!”
Then one night when she was six months
old, as we were all sleeping, I was suddenly startled out of
my sleep. I took her face as her belly by mistake. I thought
she must have kicked off her quilt. So I put my hand on her
face to warm her up quickly, then she was awakened and cried
again and I had to say sorry to her again. Later, during the
period of her stay with me, I didn’t know how many times that
I had to say sorry to her. So I had to send her to her grandmother’s
home. As a mother, I think I should say sorry to her just because
of my “careless love”. But my little girl let me know what love
is. When she cries for me, when she smiles at me, when she is
fast asleep beside me and even when she calls me mum for the
first time, I realize what “love” is. For me, youth has passed
like a screaming eagle, but I am hugged with love deeply.
Another occasion, when I was a college
student, I didn’t know how to study and live and I didn’t set
a high value on my time. The lost time is never found again.
When I stepped into the society, I realized that I knew little
and I could do nothing. So I’ve come back and work on English
again. But just because of my parents’ supports. Today, I can
sit here and study. Now they are almost 70 years old, but they
still take care of my daughter for me. I have the opportunity
to study and they feel happy. I know it is love and I love them
very much.
